The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded by Blessed Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882, the Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to 15,342 councils and 1.9 million members throughout the world.
The "K of C" have been present in Sanford–Springvale since the earliest days of Catholicism in the city. Saint Thomas Council #13861 was founded in 2008 and meets in the Saint Ignatius Cafeteria (25 Riverside Ave., Sanford) on the second Thursday of each month at 7 PM.
