A Catholic Graduation Prayer

Father,
I have knowledge, so will You show me now,
How to use it wisely and find a way somehow
To make the world I live in a little better place,
And make life with its problems a little bit easier to face.
Grant me faith and courage and put purpose in my days,
And show me how to serve Thee in effective ways.
So my education, my knowledge and my skill
May find their true fulfillment as I learn to do Thy will.
And may I ever be aware in everything I do,
That knowledge comes from learning, and wisdom comes from You.

Amen.

A prayer for our veterans.

We ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women, in the thousands, who are coming home from Iraq & Afghanistan with injured bodies and traumatized spirits. Bring solace to them, O Lord; may we pray for them when they cannot pray. We ask for, echoing John Paul II, an end to wars and the dawning of a new era of peace, As a way to honor all the veterans of past wars.

Have mercy on all our veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan. Bring peace to their hearts and peace to the regions they fought in. Bless all the soldiers who served in non-combative posts; May their calling to service continue in their lives in many positive ways.

Give us all the creative vision to see a world which, grown weary with fighting, Moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. Hear our prayer, O Prince of Peace, hear our prayer. Amen.

Flag Day Prayer

Only Hope of the Nations, it is our custom to represent our nation by means of a flag.  When we see the banner of stars and stripes we are reminded of that for which our country stands.

We pray that you would enable our country to always stand for truth and justice, liberty and honor.

Great Deliverer, our nation faces enemies from within and without.  Powerful forces conspire to overthrow our position of leadership in that which is true and right.

We ask you to stand by us and empower us.  We pray that you would strengthen us from within by your Holy Spirit.

Reason is not our God, and deceit is not our ally.  Your approval should be the only one we seek, and your blessing is the only thing we need.

Open the eyes of our people that we might see you as Lord of All and the only source of true and lasting strength.

Send your Light and your Truth unto us that we might see clearly and hold fast to the Rock of our Salvation.

Heavenly Father, preserve us by your Means of Grace.  Allow the gospel to grow in the hearts of our people that the fruits of righteousness may flourish among us.

We thank you for the blessings that have been granted unto us.  We ask, for Jesus’ sake, that they may continue for generations to come.

Grant that our flag may wave over a nation that calls you Lord, and a people that offers to the Lord of the Heavens praise and thanksgiving.  Amen.

will be done next week, please pray that it is not malignant
and for successful surgery.

-Today as we pray for our troops, let us pray especially for family members of our fellow prayer warriors who are presently serving.

Since so many of us pray to St. Anthony for lost or misplaced items, I thought I would include this short biography since many of us know little else about him. There is also a prayer included at the end of the article.

St. Anthony of Padua (Priest and Doctor)
St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) was born in 1195 in Lisbon and given the name of Fernando. At the age of 15 he entered the religious order of St. Augustine. He would then spend nine years studying Augustinian theology.

The life of the young priest took a radical turn when the bodies of the first five Franciscan martyrs were returned from Morocco and carried in solemn procession to his monastery. He was so moved by the experience, Fernando decided that he wanted to be a Franciscan, go to Morocco and become a martyr himself. As a Franciscan, he took the name Anthony.

Despite his desire, he never made it to Morocco. He became sick and needed to return home. His ship ran into storms and high winds and was blown to the east coast of Sicily, where he was cared for by the friars in Messina.

Anthony might have lived a quiet life as an unknown friar if he hadn’t gone to an ordination of Dominicans and Franciscans in 1222. While he was there, Anthony was asked to give a “simple” sermon. When Anthony began to speak, his holiness and knowledge impressed everyone. St. Francis heard of Anthony’s previously hidden gifts, and assigned Anthony to preach in northern Italy. Eventually, he was asked to also teach other friars.

In Padua, Anthony preached his last and most famous Lenten sermons. As many as 30,000 people would crowd to hear him. He would sometimes hear confessions all day. He was exhausted and knew that he would die soon. He died in 1231 at age 36. The following year, his friend, Pope Gregory IX, moved by the many miracles that occurred at Anthony’s tomb, declared him a saint.

How did St. Anthony, most known for his skill at preaching, become associated with finding lost things? When he was teaching friars, Anthony had a book of psalms that was very important to him. This was before the advent of the printing press, so the book itself was extremely valuable, but more importantly, it also had his notes for teaching which were irreplaceable.

A disgruntled novice decided to leave the community and took Anthony’s psalter with him! Upon realizing it was missing, Anthony prayed it would be found or returned to him. The novice saw a vision which compelled him to return the psalter to Anthony and return to the Order which accepted him back. The stolen book is said to be preserved in the Franciscan friary in Bologna. Shortly after his death people began asking St. Anthony’s help to find or recover lost and stolen articles.

The following is a traditional prayer to St. Anthony:

Dear St. Anthony,
You are the patron of the poor and the helper of all who seek lost articles. Help me to find the object I have lost so that I will be able to make better use of the time I will gain for God’s greater honor and glory. Grant your gracious aid to all people who seek what they have lost – especially those who seek to regain God’s grace

and for the physician who is caring for her... that he may find the
right combination of meds to help her.

The following is an excerpt from an article written by a Marine dad
whose son is recuperating from serious war injuries.

"I am reminded once again that we never know what a day may hold. Our lives can change in a moment. That is why it is so vitally important that we know Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. When life takes one of those unforeseen turns, you can know that no matter what that day holds you are held in the hand of a loving Heavenly Father. In John 10:28-29, Jesus said, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish; neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

St. Thérèse’s Prayer for Priests

(St. Thérèse’s devotion to the Priesthood is to be found in all its fullness in a prayer which she used to say daily and which she learned by heart; this is all the more remarkable in view of her known distaste for lengthy set forms of prayer.)

‘O Holy Father, may the torrents of love flowing from the sacred wounds of Thy Divine Son bring forth priests like unto the beloved disciple John who stood at the foot of the Cross; priests: who as a pledge of Thine own most tender love will lovingly give Thy Divine Son to the souls of men.

May Thy priests be faithful guardians of Thy Church, as John was of Mary, whom he received into his house. Taught by this loving Mother who suffered so much on Calvary, may they display a mother’s care and thoughtfulness towards Thy children. May they teach souls to enter into close union with Thee through Mary who, as the Gate of Heaven, is specially the guardian of the treasures of Thy Divine Heart.

Give us priests who are on fire, and who are true children of Mary, priests who will give Jesus to souls with the same tenderness and care with which Mary carried the Little Child of Bethlehem.

Mother of sorrows and of love, out of compassion for Thy beloved Son, open in our hearts deep wells of love, so that we may console Him and give Him a generation of priests formed in thy school and having all the tender thoughtfulness of thine own spotless love.’

The Real Presence

The simplest way to express what Christ asks us to believe about the Real Presence is that the Eucharist is really He. The Real Presence is the real Jesus. We are to believe that the Eucharist began in the womb of the Virgin Mary; that the flesh which the Son of God received from His Mother at the Incarnation is the same flesh into which He changed bread at the Last Supper; that the blood He received from His Mother is the same blood into which He changed wine at the Last Supper. Had she not given Him His flesh and blood there could not be a Eucharist. We are to believe that the Eucharist is Jesus Christ - simply, without qualification. It is God become man in the fullness of His divine nature, in the fullness of His human nature, in the fullness of His body and soul, in the fullness of everything that makes Jesus Jesus. He is in the Eucharist with His human mind and will united with the Divinity, with His hands and feet, His face and features, with His eyes and lips and ears and nostrils, with His affections and emotions and, with emphasis, with His living, pulsating, physical Sacred Heart. That is what our Catholic Faith demands of us that we believe. If we believe this, we are Catholic. If we do not, we are not, no matter what people may think we are.Father John A. Hardon S.J.

Prayer for Graduating Students

"Father God, we thank you for these graduating students. We pray that you will give them direction, purpose, and perseverance as they enter the next phrase of their lives. Give them clearness of mind to move forward into the plans and purposes that You have for them. May these young people gain wisdom from You and have discernment for proper behavior. Raise up Christian mentors for these graduates so they have someone who holds them accountable for their actions. We pray that they will rise above ungodly behaviors and have the boldness to stand up for what is right wherever they work, study, or socialize. Give them wisdom to spend their time and money wisely. Grant them success for their efforts at every turn and guide their feet to follow Your ways. May they be eager to do good and not evil all the days of their lives. Use them in might ways, Dear Father. In Jesus name,

A prayer for our soldiers.

Courage. As Joshua prepared for battle, the Lord commanded him to be "strong and courageous" (Joshua 1:9). "Courage," says David F. Winecoff, "has little to do with killing people and destroying property. Courage in its purest form is demonstrated by the person who stands by his convictions no matter the persecution or ridicule. " Pray that your soldier will have both physical and moral courage.

“Ask yourselves, young people, about the love of Christ. Acknowledge His voice resounding in the temple of your heart. Return His bright and penetrating glance which opens the paths of your life to the horizons of the Church’s mission. It is a taxing mission, today more than ever, to teach men the truth about themselves, about their end, their destiny, and to show faithful souls the unspeakable riches of the love of Christ. Do not be afraid of the radicalness of His demands, because Jesus, who loved us first, is prepared to give Himself to you, as well as asking of you. If He asks much of you, it is because He knows you can give much.”

PRAYER FOR MILITARY CHAPLAINS

O God, Who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the eternal High Priest for the glory of Thy Majesty and the salvation of mankind; grant that they whom He hath chosen to be His chaplains and the stewards of His mysteries, maybe found faithful in the fulfilment of the ministry which they have received.

Grant, O Holy and Mighty Trinity, that they may never lose that purity of heart with which they were ordained, though all around them lie terrors and the uncertainty of war. Give them an abundance of wise counsel, fortitude, temperance and justice and supernatural charity. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

.A Prayer for America

Father, we beg Your blessing for the Right to Life, the Unborn, the weak, the sick and the old; all who are finding themselves being targets of the vicious culture of death; that our Lord Jesus bless and protect all who stand up for the Christian dignity of persons. That God enlighten those who are traveling down death's highway by their involvement, in any way, with either the contemporary death culture, selfism, relativeism, or any of the new age errors of our times, that God envelop our culture with His Divine protection and help us both individually and as a nation to true enlightenment, conversion and repentance of our selves and our culture. Help us to turn from our national sin of abortion, and return to, and once again become a Christian nation, on the narrow road, that is, the path to becoming a nation and culture, under God. Amen.

Prayer for the safety of soldiers.

Almighty and eternal God,

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

-Let us pray for Pope Francis' intentions for June.

Dear Heavenly Father,
During the month of June, we, the People of God throughout the world, pray for mutual respect.  We pray that all of us may reflect Jesus Christ, with a culture of dialogue, listening, and mutual respect.  May respect prevail among all people, dear Lord.

We also pray for the "New Evangelization"! Lord, you know where secularization is strongest and where faith in you appears dim.  We pray with expectancy that you would bless all Christian communities so that we may effectively promote a new evangelization in every nation, every continent, and every language!

For the Safety of Soldiers
Almighty and eternal God,
those who take refuge in you will be glad
and forever will shout for joy.
Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties.
Protect them with the shield of your strength
and keep them safe from all evil and harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home
in safety, that with all who love them,
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Today is the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Elizabeth

About the Magnificat

The Magnificat [Latin: magnifies], also called the Canticle of Mary, is recorded in the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55). It is the Virgin Mary's joyous prayer in response to her cousin Elizabeth's greeting (Luke 1: 41-45). This great hymn forms part of the Church's prayer in the Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours). When it is recited as part of the Divine Office, it is followed by the Gloria Patri ("Glory be"). The traditional sung Magnificat is Latin plainchant. One of the hymn's most glorious musical renditions is the version of the Magnificat by J.S. Bach.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church describes the Magnificat as "the song both of the Mother of God and of the Church" [CCC 2619], and explains this prayer's significance:

Mary's prayer is revealed to us at the dawning of the fullness of time. Before the Incarnation of the Son of God, and before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, her prayer cooperates in a unique way with the Father's plan of loving kindness: at the Annunciation, for Christ's conception; at Pentecost, for the formation of the Church, His Body. In the faith of His humble handmaid, the Gift of God found the acceptance He had awaited from the beginning of time. She whom the Almighty made "full of grace" responds by offering her whole being: "Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be [done] to me according to Thy word". "Fiat": this is Christian prayer: to be wholly Gods' because He is wholly ours. [CCC 2617]

The Magnificat appears below.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

aside their security, their plans, their families and what is familiar in order

Francis: We Don't Save Ourselves

Pope at Morning Mass Warns Against False Securities

VATICAN CITY, April 10, 2013 (Zenit.org) - Pope Francis spoke today at morning Mass about salvation that comes from God alone.

As customary, the Holy Father celebrated morning Mass at the Domus Sanctae Marthae. Today, Cardinals Angelo Sodano and Angelo Comastri concelebrated.

"The Lord saves us by His love: not with a letter, nor with a decree, but with his love," the Pope said in the homily, as reported by Vatican Radio. And salvation, is "the recovery of that dignity, which we have lost," the dignity of being children of God.

This is a dignity that grows, said Pope Francis, "until our final encounter with Him," adding, "this is the way of salvation, and this is beautiful."

The Pontiff said that "we are men and women of hope," people who have been "saved by love."

The problem, he explained, is that sometimes we want to save ourselves, "and we believe we can do it," for example basing our security on money -- and we think: "I have money, I am secure, [I have it] all, there are no worries, I have dignity: the dignity of a rich person."

"This," said Pope Francis, "is not enough."

"Think of the parable of the Gospel, of the man who had the full granary, who said, 'I'll make another to get more, and then I'll sleep soundly,' and the Lord says, 'You fool! This evening you will die.' That salvation is wrong, it is a temporary salvation, it is also apparent salvation."

The Holy Father went on to say that, at other times, "We think we save ourselves with vanity, with pride," that, "We believe ourselves powerful ...," and that "we mask our poverty, our sins, with vanity, with pride ... Even that ends," he said.

"True salvation is in the dignity that God gives back to us in the hope that Christ has given us at Easter," he affirmed.

"Let's make today an act of faith," said Pope Francis, "[Let us say]: Lord, I believe. I believe in Your love. I believe that Your love has saved me. I believe that Your love has given me the dignity that I had not. I believe that Your love gives me hope."

Holy In A Different Way

From the saints I must take the substance, not the accidents, of their virtues.
I am not St. Aloysius, nor must I seek holiness in his particular way,
but according to the requirements of my own nature, my own character,
and the different conditions of my life.
I must not be the dry, bloodless reproduction of a model,
however perfect.

God Desires us to follow the examples of the saints
by absorbing the vital sap of their virtues and turning it into our own life-blood,
adapting it to our individual capacities and particular circumstances.
If St Aloysius had been as I am,
he would have become holy in a different way.

Pope John XXIII

Mother's Day Prayer for every season of motherhood
as well as those who longed to be mothers.

Our good and loving God, we thank you today for mothers, for grandmothers, for great-grandmothers, for aunts and neighbors and every wise and kind woman you have put in our lives. We are grateful for the many ways they have nurtured us.We pray today for the mothers in our midst and ask for your blessing on them.

We pray for expectant mothers and thank you for the joy and excitement of new life. We ask for your protection over these mothers and their babies.

We pray for mothers of infants, that you would give them endurance for the daily tasks of feeding, diapering and caring for their children. We pray that in the midst of these challenges you would give them times of joy and delight in the little ones you have brought into their lives.

We pray for mothers of young children, that they would have patience for the endless questions that come as young minds try to make sense of their world. Refresh them by your Spirit and help them model to their children the love they receive from you.

We pray for mothers of teenagers, that they would have the discernment to know when to speak and when to listen. Give them confidence that you are at work in their children and that you hold their children’s futures in your hands.

We pray for mothers of rebellious or wayward children, that as they pour out their grief to you, they would find hope and encouragement. Remind them of your love for their children, a love that exceeds even their own.

We pray for mothers who face special challenges, parenting their children alone or mothering children with disabilities or illnesses. Give them an extra measure of grace. Surround them with a community that can support and love their children and them.

We pray for mothers who have lost children. Comfort them in their sorrow and use them in your kingdom to comfort others who grieve.

We pray for those who long to be mothers. Give them grace to receive the blessings of each day with joy and satisfy the desires of their hearts with good things.

We pray for our own mothers and ask your blessing upon them. Thank you for all the ways they have nurtured and loved us. Give us the words to express our gratitude to them.

Where our mothers have wounded or disappointed us, give us grace to forgive.

For every mother here who carries regret or guilt, we pray that you would meet her in that place of failure with forgiveness for the past and grace to move forward in your love.

Thank you, Lord, for the love of mothers. Their love feeds our souls and gives us a small glimpse of the overwhelming love you have for each of us.

In the name of your son, Jesus, Amen.

137 years ago on this day, Fr. Damien stepped foot on the island of Molokai for the first time. No one knew that this day would one day be celebrated throughout the universal Church as the feast day of the “Apostle of the Lepers”. This is the first time that Hawaii has been able to celebrate her saint.

It was anything but easy. As St. Damien once said: “Without the constant presence of our Divine Master upon the altar in my poor chapels, I never could have persevered casting my lot with the lepers of Molokai.”

Priests to pray for today are Rev. C. Lee Gilbertson &
Rev. John Crabb SJ

-As we pray daily for our soldiers, let us especially remember the family
members of our prayer warriors who are serving our country at home

A Prayer for the Missing

Heavenly Father,

You searched when your Son Jesus
disappeared when he was twelve.

You would not give up
until he was found.

You know the pain of having someone missing,
and the joy of finding them,
as you found your son.

Help those who are searching now,
to find the answers to their questions,
and an end to their searching.

Inspire people to be vigilant,
so that their eyes and ears
may see and hear news that will bring hope.

Comfort those who feel lonely and sad
because the one they love has vanished.
Be with them in the storm
and guide them in their efforts.
Amen

Prayer For a Moral Nation

O Heavenly Father, I know that the spirit of worldliness can creep into the Body of Christ very subtly, and before we know it, we can so easily be led astray. I pray You send Your Holy Spirit upon us, so that a moral, Christian voice can be heard and heeded by our leaders and the media. Cause us, as Christians, to become the standard bearers to such a degree that we can profoundly affect the morality of this nation. Turn our people's hearts to You. Open our eyes that we may see the error of our ways. Gather all Christians, Catholic and Protestant, together so that we form a united front against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Disarm the evildoers, leaving them powerless and not in control of our great nation. Inspire our media--television, newscasters, reporters, filmmakers, and celebrities--to promote a truly moral social justice and morally righteous entertainment and fashion. Be our strength when we are tempted to succumb to worldy things and ways. Help us to lead our lives all for the greater honor and glory of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

"Safety and deliverance from the enemy. "The horse is prepared against the day

is prayer cover"

A prayer for May, the Month of Mary
(Prayer of Blessed John Paul II at Lourdes August 2004)

Hail Mary, poor and humble Woman,
Blessed by the Most High!
Virgin of hope, dawn of a new era,
We join in your song of praise,
to celebrate the Lord’s mercy,
to proclaim the coming of the Kingdom
and the full liberation of humanity.
Hail Mary, lowly handmaid of the Lord,
Glorious Mother of Christ!
Faithful Virgin, holy dwelling-place of the Word,
Teach us to persevere in listening to the Word,
and to be docile to the voice of the Spirit,
attentive to his promptings in the depths of our conscience
and to his manifestations in the events of history.
Hail Mary, Woman of sorrows,
Mother of the living!
Virgin spouse beneath the Cross, the new Eve,
Be our guide along the paths of the world.
Teach us to experience and to spread the love of Christ,
to stand with you before the innumerable crosses
on which your Son is still crucified.
Hail Mary, woman of faith,
First of the disciples!
Virgin Mother of the Church, help us always
to account for the hope that is in us,
with trust in human goodness and the Father’s love.
Teach us to build up the world beginning from within:
in the depths of silence and prayer,
in the joy of fraternal love,
in the unique fruitfulness of the Cross.
Holy Mary,
Mother of believers,
pray for us. Amen

I Fall To My Knees (A Reflection on Eucharistic Adoration)

Posted By Randy Hain

In the True Presence of Christ, I fall to my knees.

I am humbled to be so near Him in the form of the Eucharist.

A feeling of peace and joy comes over me.

I start to pray in earnest because our Lord hears our prayers.

I offer Him my sincerest gratitude for the many blessings in my life.

I ask His forgiveness for the sins I have committed.

I promise our Lord that I will go to Reconciliation soon.

I unburden myself to Him and share all of my stress and anxiety as He asked us to in the Gospel.

I pray for others-family, friends, co-workers and anyone who is struggling or suffering.

I pray for the Church, the Holy Father and our Bishops, Priests and Deacons.

I pray for our country and for our leaders to have moral courage and wisdom.

I pray for a world that will respect all life.

I pray that I will be a channel for His will today and every day.

Then I stop praying and I listen.

I listen for His voice.

Maybe He will speak to me through the friend I will encounter that day or possibly in the meditation or scripture passage I am reading.

I go to Eucharistic Adoration out of love and devotion and my passionate belief that this prayer time before the Blessed Sacrament is the catalyst for my ongoing renewal and conversion.

Go and spend time with Jesus today…He is waiting for you.

PRAYING TOGETHER

Let's pray right now, thousands of us together, with great sincerity, for each
other's financial needs:

"Father, oh Father, we need your help. We struggle to pay the bills. Those of us
who do not struggle have friends and families who do. Some of us are worried
about keeping our jobs. Some of us are out of work. We could go on and on,
but you know all the details, and every need, small and large, every pixel on
every bill on our desks, so with great humility, and simple faith, with heads
bowed, as your sons and daughters, we ask You to supply quickly what we
lack through your superabundance of generosity, even if that requires guiding
us perfectly to the means to earn what we need through our hard work.
Help us to find ways to live simply and prudently within our means.
Enlighten us in every area where our financial struggles are an opportunity to
embrace poverty of spirit and to forsake any material goods which are a burden
to holiness. Without hesitation we ask for miracles where needed for ourselves,
our loved ones, and our parishes. We acknowledge that every prosperity and
material blessing developed and enjoyed by man throughout the centuries is a
reflection of your rational nature, a trait that most makes us like you aside from
our immortality. Your Son told us not to worry about these things. Give us the
grace to follow His advice.

We ask for bread, and know you will not give us rocks. Thank you. Amen."

they wanted to communicate that a life of faith in Christ is a great adventure.

-Quoting a part of Pope Francis’ Regina Caeli address today on this
World Day of Prayer for vocations:
“Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or consecrated life,
is always the strong and intense prayer of someone: a grandmother,
a grandfather, a mother, a father, a community ... That's why Jesus said,
‘Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest’ (Mt 9:38)
The vocations are born in prayer and from prayer, and only in prayer can they
persevere and bear fruit.” (Please pray for my son who last year -- 4th grade,
told me he wanted to become a priest. I ask for my faith community to keep
him in prayer. May God’s will be done!)

World Day of Prayer
for Vocations

Sunday, April 21 is the 50th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for
Vocations, which was instituted by Pope Paul VI during the
Second Vatican Council.

This year's theme is "Vocations as a sign of hope founded in faith."

As we mark this day, please pray that young people, especially those from your
parish, will be open to God’s call in their lives!

We pray...

• For those who are having difficulty discerning their vocations, that the
Holy Spirit give them wisdom and peace.

• That Christian parents will happily accept the possibility that God may call one
of their children to priesthood or consecrated life. .

• For all clergy and religious, living and dead, who have served in our diocese.

Prayer for peace and justice.

Let us be filled with the presence of your great compassion toward ourselves and
toward all living beings. (Silence).

Realizing that we are all nourished from the same source of life, may we so live
that others be not deprived of air, food, water, shelter, or the chance to live. (Silence)

With humility, let us work and pray for the establishment of peace in our hearts and
peace on earth. (Silence).

O blessed Lord, you ministered to all who came to you: Look with compassion upon all who
have  lost their health and freedom through the suffering of war and violence. Restore to them
the assurance of your unfailing mercy; remove from them the fears that beset them;
strengthen them in their recovery; and to those who care for them, give patient understanding
and persevering love.

Amen.

Protection from Terrorism

Father, I pray You prevent the destructive forces of terrorism directed against
our nation.  Provide protection from evil attacks and stop the aggressors that
attempt to bring destruction to our nation and its people. May Your Hand of
protection keep us safe. I stand against the spirit of fear that accompanies
the cowardice acts of terrorism. Allow our fear to turn to trust in You.
May knowledge of terrorist planned attacks be revealed to those who provide
our national and international security. Help those in power to act swiftly to
avert all danger, protecting American lives and property.

Lord, provide strength, courage, and wisdom to our protectors. Give wisdom
and insight to our government and everyone involved in the elimination of
terrorism. Provide instruction in the development of effective and efficient
anti-terrorist strategies that will give us an advantage against our aggressors,
allowing this country to remain safe and secure.  I also pray that You enter the
hearts of the instigators of terrorism, so they recognize the evil of their ways,
and repent and denounce their cowardice acts of destruction against humanity.
Without repentance, may they reap the consequences of their actions through
Your Divine Justice. May the fear of our retaliation be greater than their hatred
of democracy. Guide us in efforts to seek out and erradicate these merchants
of death. Reveal to us the names of those responsible and in allegiance with
terrorist organizations. Enable our military to become swift, powerful, and
accurate in any action of retaliation. Help them keep the innocent safe as
they stop these evil people.

Lord, help us to understand lifestyle changes that might be necessary to
ensure our protection. Grant patience and tolerance to us in adapting to the
safety precautions and measure that we might experience. Enable us to realize
that the cost of inconvenience is a small price to pay for the safety of our
families. Amen.

St. Thérèse’s Prayer for Priests

(St. Thérèse’s devotion to the Priesthood is to be found in all its fullness
in a prayer which she used to say daily and which she learnt off by heart;
this is all the more remarkable in view of her known distaste for lengthy
set forms of prayer.)

‘O Holy Father, may the torrents of love flowing from the sacred wounds
of Thy Divine Son bring forth priests like unto the beloved disciple John
who stood at the foot of the Cross; priests: who as a pledge of Thine own
most tender love will lovingly give Thy Divine Son to the souls of men.

May Thy priests be faithful guardians of Thy Church, as John was of Mary,
whom he received into his house. Taught by this loving Mother who
suffered so much on Calvary, may they display a mother’s care and
thoughtfulness towards Thy children. May they teach souls to enter into
close union with Thee through Mary who, as the Gate of Heaven,
is specially the guardian of the treasures of Thy Divine Heart.

Give us priests who are on fire, and who are true children of Mary,
priests who will give Jesus to souls with the same tenderness and
care with which Mary carried the Little Child of Bethlehem.

Mother of sorrows and of love, out of compassion for Thy beloved Son,
open in our hearts deep wells of love, so that we may console Him and
give Him a generation of priests formed in thy school and having all the
tender thoughtfulness of thine own spotless love.’

-I received this prayer request from my Mum's prayer line in NH:
May we get on our knees and say a prayer for these Sisters of St. Joseph.

United in Christ, Joanne

Dear Sisters and Associates,
An SMA priest, Father Michele, who offered Mass here at Fontbonne this morning is from the Congo.
He shared with us some very disturbing news about the Sisters of St. Joseph from Italy who are serving
in Central African Republic. The president of this country has fled to Cameroon and rebels have taken over.
Father Michele has learned that the sisters’ convent is being looted and they themselves are in danger of
bodily harm. He asked us to pray for their safety and well being as well as the peace and safety of the
people of this country.

How good it is we can be with one another in prayer in this time of great need!

-"Let us pray for our Military and their families, that they experience God's love through our
prayers and support.

A Family Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of our
family.  Enlighten our hearts and minds that
we may live more fully this vocation to love.

In our daily life and work,
may we reflect the self-giving love which you,
O Father, eternally show with your Son
and the Holy Spirit.

Let your love be evident in the peace that reigns
in our home and in the faith we profess and live.
May our family always be a place of generosity,
understanding, forgiveness and joy.

Kindly give us the wisdom and courage
to be witnesses to your eternal design for
the family; and grant that the Holy Family
of Nazareth may always guide our path
to holiness as a family.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Amen

Prayer for our Military.

In the Holy Name of Jesus, I lift up to You, Father, the families of our military.  I pray that all will feel Your love and mercy
while they are concerned for their loved ones who are away serving our great nation.  May they know abundance, being
well provided for and well taken care of until their loved ones return home safely.  Give them the courage of warriors.
May the peace that passes understanding sustain them in seasons of separation.  Comfort them with Your Word,
that they might have faith to see their sons, daughters, husbands, and wives returned to them in wholeness and safety.  Amen

Prayer for Priests
Lord Jesus, you have chosen your priests from among us and sent them out to proclaim your word and to act in your name.
For so great a gift to your Church, we give you praise and thanksgiving. We ask you to fill them with the fire of your love,
that their ministry may reveal your presence in the Church. Since they are earthen vessels, we pray that your power shine
out through their weakness. In their afflictions let them never be crushed; in their doubts never despair; in temptation never
be destroyed; in persecution never abandoned.

April 2, 2013 Message to Mirjana

"Dear children, I am calling you to be one with my Son in spirit. I am calling you, through prayer, and the Holy Mass when my Son unites Himself with you in a special way, to try to be like Him; that, like Him, you may always be ready to carry out God’s will and not seek the fulfilment of your own. Because, my children, it is according to God’s will that you are and that you exist, and without God’s will you are nothing. As a mother, I am asking you to speak about the glory of God with your life because, in that way, you will also glorify yourself in accordance to His will. Show humility and love for your neighbour to everyone. Through such humility and love, my Son saved you and opened the way for you to the Heavenly Father. I implore you to keep opening the way to the Heavenly Father for all those who have not come to know Him and have not opened their hearts to His love. By your life, open the way to all those who still wander in search of the truth. My children, be my apostles who have not lived in vain. Do not forget that you will come before the Heavenly Father and tell Him about yourself. Be ready! Again I am warning you, pray for those whom my Son called, whose hands He blessed and whom He gave as a gift to you. Pray, pray, pray for your shepherds. Thank you."
